Digital marketing is advertising/marketing delivered through digital channels [Social media, mobile applications, emails, or any other digital channel].
Simply digital marketing is the marketing of product and service through/involves electronic devices.

As a kid, I still remember looking at those advertisements on billboards and asking parents to buy it anyway simply most of us get the answer no or maybe later from our parents.
Nowadays just observe your fellow passengers no one is looking at the roads while traveling every one is busy with there cellphones.
Digital media growth was estimated at 4.5 trillion online ads served annually with digital media spend at 48% growth in 2010.
With over 560 million internet users, India is the second-largest online market in the world, ranked only behind China. It was estimated that by 2023, there would be over 650 million internet users in the country.
Every company is making digital marketing as one of its marketing strategies and there is a vast scope of opportunities for digital marketers.

Is it effective now? Though many believe radio is declining, it is shown that 4 wheelers are the highest source of the radio audience as of 2018.
In recent, Podcasts[Internet radio] are getting into trend even popular apps like Spotify,Jio Saavn are making best use of it.

Nearly 80% of internet users owns a smart phone,more people are accessing there internet via phone rather than desktop or pc.
Cold calling and text messages marketing etc all these are tactics of phone marketing.
Many organizations are running only with this phone marketing strategy. And there is a special name for this called Inside sales. Mostly online education service providers are using this kind of approach.
Online or offline, a text message is almost a guaranteed read.
